2018: Another Record Year for
Sotheby's Paris |
A total of €251.4m in sales made 2018 a third exceptional year in a row for Sotheby’s France. |
Highlights include: 31 world auction records, 20 collections, the highest price for any works of art in France for a Yangcai porcelain vase sold for €16.2m, Qianlong mark and period. |
The most important auctions were: "Pierre Bergé, From One Home to Another" (€27.4m) – highest total for any single owner sale in France this year, "Fine Chinese paintings, calligraphy and rubbings" (€10.6m), "The collection of Oscar Mairlot" (€7m). |
Significantly, some of the most remarkable world record prices were achieved for works by major international contemporary artists, including Kazuo Shiraga (€8.7m) and Mark Tobey (€1.4m) as well as a mirror by Claude Lalanne commissioned Yves Saint Laurent’s (€909.000). |
