The auction house Ketterer Kunst celebrates its 70th anniversary with a sensational array of works focusing on Contemporary, Modern and 19th Century Art. The top lot, Alexej von Jawlensky’s "Spanische Tänzerin" (Spanish Dancer), 1909 (Estimate Price: € 7-10 M.) stands as the pinnacle of German Expressionism, and is one of the core works on offer at the auction house.
This major sale also puts a strong focus on American Pop Art with, as another key piece, the monumental, ironically provocative motif by James Rosenquist "Playmate", 1966 (Estimate price: € 1-1,5 M.), part of the legendary 1967 “Playboy” project “Playmate as Fine Art”, to which Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, George Segal, and others also made contributions.
In addition to Gerhard Richter and Georg Baselitz, collectors will also have the opportunity to bid for artworks by Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Sean Scully, Henry Moore and many others.
